I slide myself over onto the cold leather seat and stick the key hopefully into the ignition. She doesn't always behave.
There is a cough and a rumble before the 7.5 litre big block V8 rolls lazily into life. I don't have many indulgences but Eloise is definitely at the top of the list. A 454 Stingray is just about the perfect partner a man could have; oh she might piss you off and throw the odd tantrum, and she might be the highest maintenance lady you’ve ever had anything to do with; but she’ll never throw the teapot at your head or be unfaithful to you, and if you service her regularly and keep pumpin’ that gas into her then she’ll purr like a kitty-cat when idling and scream like a charging tiger when she’s burning up the local boy racers. Not bad for an old girl who made her debut in ‘74; but then, I’m no spring chicken myself.
“Okay Eloise, let’s go play. I feel the need for speed.”
